Zoetropes

Animations from yesteryear.

Today in Amazon we have been making zoetropes. Zoetropes are devices that produce the illusion of motion by displaying a sequence of drawings or photographs showing progressive phases of that motion. The children drew a cartoon over a number of boxes and built a card tube with slots cut into it. They then mounted this on a paper plate with a rubber ball inserted into the middle. They could then spin the paper plate so that the cartoons seemed to move!
