During Term 1 we celebrated National Poetry Day as a whole school, immersing the children in the poetry wonders of Michael Rosen. In class we explored, recited, performed and wrote our own poetry based on Michael Rosen’s entertaining works of art. We were blown away by the number of children across the school who took part in our Poetry Off by Heart competition and would like to say a huge congratulations to our finalists and of course, our overall winner for his emotive performance of ‘Hot Food’. Congratulations SSQ on your fantastic float ‘Celebrating Reading’ - 2nd place Malmesbury Carnival

Wow! It’s been an amazing couple of days with the whole school coming together to learn about and celebrate carnival time. As a school that is passionate about reading, we enjoyed reading Bisa’s Carnival, then used ideas from the book as stimulus for some creative carnival writing. We also took part in very loud and large samba workshop, made carnival cakes to sell and then the super fun finale - the procession at Malmesbury Carnival.

Thank you to the parents & wider community for supporting and the amazing costumes, the staff - especially Mrs Anderson and family for organising and providing the float, and finally the children for representing the school with such enthusiasm.
