  • Stanton celebrate World Religion Day

    Published 16/01/23

The whole school have been involved in celebrating World Religion Day. This day unites people of all faiths and religions and celebrates their shared values of love, kindness, respect and helping others.

Here is a little of what we got up to...

We began with a whole school assembly to think a little about what Religion is and why it is important to learn about a little about the different religions of the world.

In the morning, Mr Priest came in to make traditional Easter biscuits. He told us about the link between using cassia oil and the embalming of Jesus Christ...

Later, we learned how Buddhists create amazing sand mandalas that represent the universe, and we had a go at making our own nature mandalas...

We listened to the story 'Bracelets for Bina's Brothers' by Rajani LaRocca and made bracelets similar to ones that Hindus give each other during the festival of Rahki to show others that you will look after them...

After learning a little about the traditions of Hanukkah, we made our own dreidels and enjoyed playing the game together...

  • Christmas books for one and all

    Published 12/12/22

Well, what a wonderfully generous school community we have. It has been my great pleasure today, to sort through and label with donation plaques, all of the wonderful Christmas books donated from our Wish List. There are 30 new books in our library for the children to delve into next week and during the run up to Christmas. Even more magical, there are 30 books boxed up and ready for me to deliver to the Bristol Children’s Hospital, along with my reading buddy, Rufus, who is now dressed in his Christmas jumper, purchased from the Sustainable Stanton Sale. We are so humbled by your kind donations and I know the children at school and at the hospital are going to enjoy these wonderful books throughout December.

I cannot thank you enough for your support and kindness.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Stanton school! The children have been busy making angel decorations to decorate the school hall, and our tree (kindly donated by Prestige Grounds) is looking suitably festive. The children of Darling and Amazon are very excited to welcome you to their nativity performance of ‘The Angel Express’ this week!

  • Rufus the Reading Bear's Birthday Celebrations!

    Published 20/11/22

This weekend, Rufus the Reading Bear has celebrated his birthday!

Rufus was treated to a book themed party at Mrs Anderson’s house and asked for pop-up books for his birthday this year. After exploring his new pop-up books, Rufus enjoyed a large slice of chocolate birthday cake followed by a special birthday bath. Mrs Anderson did have to hold Rufus’s paw as he was a little unsure of the water! He is now super clean and ready to go home with children he spots reading 🐻 📚

He’ll even bring one of his new pop-up books with him!
