We are so extremely proud to announce that Ella and Roman achieved 'Highly Commended' in this year's 'If You Were an Engineer, What Would You Do?' competition. Both Ella's invention 'Lights Out' and Roman's 'Super Planet Plant Powered Ice Cream Machine' were recognised for their ingenuity and creativity.
Together with their families and Mrs Anderson, the children attended the prestigious awards ceremony in Southampton yesterday afternoon, where they were presented with their awards and saw their designs on display at the exhibition.
There were 48,000 entries that were submitted this year which makes this an outstanding achievement for Ella and Roman. A huge congratulations to them both!
There was a huge buzz of excitement today as we received our certificates from the Primary Engineering Competition that all children in Amazon Class entered during Term 3, answering the question, ‘If You Were an Engineer, What Would You Do?’
I was so extremely proud of the children’s empathetic ideas and designs and feel that this has been recognised by the judging panel, with all children receiving a commendation for their entries. This year we have received a significant number of Pass (14 children) , Merit (12 children) and the highest grading, Distinction Shortlisted (4 children).
The entries of the four children who received Distinction Shortlisted have now gone to the final round of judging and could be this year's winner! These entries will also be on display at a local exhibition- further details to follow.
We congratulate all the children on their fantastic achievement.
It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Sophie Cleverly to Stanton last week as part of our World Book Week celebrations. Sophie is the very talented author of the Scarlet and Ivy and The Violet Veil Mysteries series, which many of our children continue to read and enjoy.
Sophie visited KS2 to tell the children a little about herself, talk about writing mystery stories and share a reading from one of her books.
After joining us at the Story Museum, Sophie also held a meet an author event and book signing in the library which was attended by many very excited children, clutching copies of their books.
A huge thank you to Sophie for spending this time with us, inspiring us to become lifelong readers and indeed, authors!
Snow fun!
Yesterday the children spent time enjoying the snow outdoors; building snowmen, making snow angels and having lots of fun laughter with their friends.
It is days like these when we really see the wonderful friendships our children have across the school.
