Our First Week in Amazon Class
Amazon Class have had a super first week back to school, making new friends and getting to know their new class. We have learnt lots about the Amazon river and the pink river dolphin who inhabits these vast waters. We each made a pink river dolphin to place in our Amazon Class river to remind us that we are all swimming together.
We have played lots of games to get to know each other, including the wool game, making a web which symbolises how we are all connected by the things we have in common. We have lots of cats and dogs in our homes!
We have shared some super stories and written some wonderfully imaginative ‘unbelievable’ stories about the summer- why not ask your child all about their unbelievable story?
We have started to explore our new topic ’The Great Fire of London’, learning lots about what London was like in 1666. Our Tudor houses are proudly displayed, making sure they are very close together! We visited our school timeline and found this significant event in history, calculating that the blaze started 357 years ago.
We have been revisiting key maths skills this week, using sand trays and sensory bags to practise number formation and calculation.
Finally, we’ve made time to relax, rehydrate and play in our new surroundings. I am so proud of how the children have settled in and embraced returning to school. What a super week we’ve had!
